Beaches like Stoupa and more
Stoupa is a picturesque seaside village situated in a historic region of Mani, 45 Km. southeast of Kalamata.
Its beautyfull coastline, sparkling blue seas blissfull sandy beaches and never-ending sunshine make Stoupa an ideal holiday destination for the whole family, especially during the summer months.
There are many coves and beaches in close proximity to Stoupa but 3 are organized. They are Stoupa beach, Kalogria and Halikoura. These beaches stand out because underground rivers that flow from mountain Taygetos form unique fresh water springs that spout from their seabeds. These springs constantly replenish these waters, keeping them always crystal clear.
Stoupa beach is quaint harbor cove located right in front of the village. It has turquoise waters, fine golden sun, umbrellas and plenty of sunbeds. The beach side promenade features many cafes, restaurants and gift shops. There is a treat for all, parents and children.
Kalogria beach is a few-minute-walk from Stoupa. It has beautyfull shallow blue waters and velvety white sand. It is perfect for families with small children. Famous Greek writer Nikos Kazantzakis lived here in 1917 and this is where he was inspired to write “Zorba, The Greek”
The third beach Halikoura, is called as such because it has pebbles instead of sun. This tranquil and secluded beach is the perfect spot for those seeking some peace and quiet.
Other than sea and sun, Stoupa also offers numerous alternative activities. Visit Zorbas abandoned mines in Pastova. Trek along the old cobble-stoned pathways used in the past to connect the various villages in the area. Enjoy captivating scenery as you walk through the gorges of Virou, Noupantis and Koskaragas. Visit the forests of Mountain Taygetos or even explore one of the many caves in region. Over the years Stoupa has known remarkable growth. It is not suprising since Stoupa offers facilities and services of the highest quality to all visitors.
